I can't keep my love of Rowling's writing hidden anymore~! Snape has always been my favourite character, though I'd only seen the movies. I've now read only the last two books (ok, technically Jim Dale read them to me) and my favourite plot line in the series is Severus' story arc.

!------SPOILERS------!

I found the story of this character in the HP series really heart breaking, much more than any other. From Harry's point of view, Severus is a untrustworthy, evil man out to get him. This couldn't be further from the truth. Snape is one of the characters who sacrifices the most to protect Harry.

Snape was the one who told Voldemort of the prophecy, which lead to the murder of the Potters, including the one person Snape ever loved, Lily Potter. It's Lily's death that causes him to defect from the Death Eaters, and from this point forward everything he does is to ensure the safety of the only thing she left behind, her son. It is this dedication, this constant focus on this one duty, which is so heartbreaking...while always carrying this pain of loving someone forever lost.

One of my favourite scenes is from The Half-Blood Prince, when Harry is chasing down Snape after seeing him kill Dumbledore. In anger, Harry attempts to call him a coward, but Snape interupts and yells with fury "Don't call me coward". It's not until you've finished the series that you realise why Snape takes such offense. Dumbledore was the one person who always had faith in Snape and trusted him, and he was forced to kill him, the only real friend he ever really had. He is also forced to pretend that he is still loyal to Voldemort, the one who killed Lily, and act as his right hand man. On top of all this, everytime Snape looks at Harry, he is reminded of James Potter, the man he hates and married Lily, because of the father/son resemblance. But then, (and this makes for the saddest death scene!) Severus can't help but be reminded of Lily, since the boy has his mother's eyes.

So ANYWAY~ this picture is of my favourite scene, where Severus reveals his patronus charm, and shows that, yes, after all these years, he still loves Lily: "Always."

I think I have my huge nerdy Snape rant out of me now, lol.

I love the depth in Snape, how there was more to him than there seemed to be. I like him very much as a character. Though a lot of people still dismiss that Snape was a total ass in personality, and that's why he lost Lily to begin with. I loved his depth though, because we could understand how he got in a lot of his positions he was in (abusive family growing up, the wrong crowd ect) and I think he was one of the best characters in the series. A lot of people say he was the 'real hero' in the series while some argue he was a minor part of the whole scheme. I definitely consider him a hero but no one really was 'the hero'. Harry Potter has a hero complex (not dissing hp I love hp xD), and for his actions is definitely a hero, but so many people played their part in this series, especially Severus Snape and I like it that way because I can love almost all the characters. I totally did cry at the Snape scene in the movie, and especially the Dobby scene.

Arrgh...*cries*. I really miss him.

Also, I think this was used as an icon for a song on a wizard rock band's MySpace (Ministry of Magic). Dunno if anyone's told you, just thought to let you know. :)

it was a doe and yes. stag's are male deer, while doe's are females. from the beginning, snape has done everything to protect harry and help guide him through his difficult tasks, which also includes putting the false sword of godric gryfindor in bellatrix lestrange's vault at gringotts. :3 if you haven't yet, i would suggest reading the books to get a better idea of everything, since the movies are always off by a lot but try to include as much important information into them. i'm not sure what happens in the deathly hallows book, but once i have finished reading half-blood prince by sunday, i will be eager to compare the movies with the book in my mind. xD

I really love this masterpiece ... You got it perfectly.
When I was in the cinema, I began to mourn when I saw Snape die. And when Snape told Harry: "Look... at... me... You have your mother's eyes" I cried harder and accidentally exclaimed: "I love you, Severus!" Everyone looked at me, I heard someone said: "What's wrong with this crazy girl?" But I didn't care, because I said what really felt, feel and will feel forever. And I'll say it again: I love you, Severus!
"Always"

I just finished reading the seventh Harry Potter book... for the second time! It was even better than when I read it the first time! My favorite part of the book was when Harry saw Snape's memories. This is a really good drawing of Snape; every time I try and draw Snape's hair he looks like a girl!
